Mobile Golf Cart Repair in Venice
Venice Golf Cart Repair brings the shop to your driveway, garage, or cart barn anywhere in Venice and South Sarasota County and fixes the cart where it sits. The $50 to $100 service call includes a full on-site diagnostic and is applied toward the repair, battery sets, solenoids, brake shoes, and tires ride on the truck, and most calls finish in one visit. Same-day or next-day across Venice, Wellen Park, North Port, Englewood, Nokomis, and Osprey.
Nobody in Venice wants to find a trailer, a hitch, and a friend with a truck to get a dead cart to a shop across town. Most owners here could not lift a 60-pound battery if they wanted to, and the 2020 Census says why: the city’s median age is 69.8 and 62.8 percent of residents are 65 or older. Mobile is not a convenience add-on in this market. It is the only version of the service that makes sense.
What a mobile visit covers
Won’t move. The cart is on, the key is on, the pedal does nothing, or it clicks and does nothing. That is a solenoid, controller, throttle input, motor, or cable problem, and the order we test in is the order that costs you least. Details on the motor and controller repair page.
Won’t charge, or the charger never clicks off. Charger output test, charge-port pin check, receptacle wiring, and then the pack. Around the water the charge port is a frequent culprit, and it is a $100 to $300 fix rather than a $1,000 one. See charger repair.
Weak, slow, sags on the bridge or the hill out of the parking garage. Per-battery load test and voltage-drop checks along the main cables. Sometimes it is the pack, sometimes it is one bad battery in a young pack, sometimes it is a corroded cable strangling a healthy pack. The battery replacement page has the honest math for when it really is the pack.
Squeals, grinds, pulls, or rolls at a stop. Brakes. Adjustment is about $75; shoes and drums $100 to $250; a full overhaul $200 to $400. See brakes and tires.
Cupped, cracked, or bald tires. $75 to $150 each installed, usually the same visit.
Lights, signals, mirror, windshield. Required for after-sunset golf cart use under F.S. 316.212 and required equipment on any low-speed vehicle under F.S. 316.2122. We repair and install them, and the annual tune-up checks all of it.
The diagnostic, in order
We do the same sequence on every cart, because skipping steps is how people get sold batteries they did not need.
- Listen and look. The symptom description, the battery date codes, the condition of the terminals and cable ends, the water level in the cells, the charger’s indicator behavior.
- Pack voltage, then per-battery voltage. A 48V pack resting at 48 volts with one battery at 6 volts and five at 8.4 is a one-battery problem, not a pack problem.
- Load test each battery. Voltage under load is what the motor actually sees. A battery that reads fine at rest and collapses under load is done.
- Hydrometer on flooded packs. Specific gravity cell by cell. Trojan’s guidance is that 1.277 or higher at 80 degrees indicates a full charge; a cell well below its neighbors is sulfated or shorted.
- Voltage drop along the main cables under load. A healthy cable drops almost nothing. A salt-corroded one can drop a volt or more, which at cart currents is enormous.
- Charger output at the plug and at the receptacle.
- Solenoid, controller, and throttle input if the cart still will not move with a healthy pack behind it.
You get a flat quote when that sequence is finished, not before.
Where we go
Venice proper, including the island grid off Venice Avenue, Venice Gardens, Jacaranda West, Plantation Golf and Country Club, and the Venetian Golf and River Club off Laurel Road. All of Wellen Park: IslandWalk, Grand Palm, Sarasota National, Wellen Park Golf and Country Club, and the new neighborhoods around Downtown Wellen. North Port including Heron Creek, Warm Mineral Springs, and Holiday Park. Englewood on both the Sarasota and Charlotte county sides, including Boca Royale. Nokomis and Osprey up US-41, plus the 55-plus parks along the Trail like Bay Indies in Venice. Gated communities are routine; we arrange access at booking.
Seasonal carts and storm carts
Two local patterns account for a lot of our calls.
The October return. Sarasota County counts more than 85,000 seasonal residents, and a large share of them park a cart in a hot garage from April to October. They come home to a self-discharged pack, green terminals, a seized brake cam, and sometimes a charge port that oxidized in the humidity. NOAA’s normals put the average high in Venice above 90 degrees from June through September; a parked cart does not rest in that, it degrades. A return-from-summer check is priced as a tune-up and usually saves the pack.
Before and after storms. Hurricane Ian’s extreme wind warning in September 2022 named Osprey, Venice, North Port, and Englewood; Helene and Milton pushed surge into Venice and Englewood in 2024. Ahead of a forecast we prioritize charger and battery calls so carts are fully charged before the power goes. Afterward, we see carts that sat on a dead pack through a week-long outage, saltwater in battery compartments, and chargers that took a surge on restoration. Do not plug a flooded cart back in until it has been tested.
Independent, insured, straight with you
We are an independent mobile service. We are not an authorized dealer or warranty center for Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, Evolution, or any other manufacturer, and if your cart is under factory warranty your selling dealer is the right call for warranty work. Repairs are performed by experienced, insured local golf cart technicians. Every price we charge is on the pricing page, every quote is flat and up-front, and if the honest answer is that the repair is not worth it against the value of the cart, that is the answer you get.
Book a visit
Tell us the brand, gas or electric, the battery count if you can see it, and what the cart is doing. A photo of the battery compartment and the dash helps. You will get a flat number and a window fast, and in most of the service area the truck is in your driveway the same day or the next.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can you actually fix in my driveway?
Almost everything a cart does wrong: battery packs, solenoids, controllers, motors, chargers and charge ports, brakes, tires, cables and terminals, lights and signals, and tune-ups. Battery sets, solenoids, brake shoes, and tires ride on the truck, so most jobs finish in one visit. The rare exception is a major motor rebuild, and we tell you that up front.
How fast can you get to Wellen Park or North Port?
Same-day or next-day is the norm across the service area. Venice, Venice Gardens, and the West Villages neighborhoods are usually fastest; North Port east of Toledo Blade and the Charlotte County side of Englewood are the far ends and may be next-day. Say if the cart is your only transportation and we will prioritize it.
Do I need to be home?
For the diagnostic and the quote, yes, because we want you to see what we found before approving anything. If the cart is in an open garage or cart barn and you have approved a flat quote by phone or photo, we can do the work without you there.
What if the repair is not worth it?
We say so. On an older cart with a tired frame, a failing controller, and a dead pack, the honest number is sometimes that the money belongs in a newer cart. You pay the trip fee for the diagnostic and get a straight answer, not a $2,000 ticket.
